Weiser Heritage Consultancy
My journey began back in 1991. I initially trained in designing and planning interior spaces, and I completed my Bachelor of Interior Design (Cum Laude) in Atlanta, Georgia. While I loved designing buildings from scratch, my favourite projects always involved working on the challenges presented by older properties.

Following this passion, I visited the UK in 1997 to explore the country’s history. A few years later, I moved to the UK to complete my Master’s Degree in the Conservation of Historic Buildings at the University of York. Since then, I’ve worked in a variety of roles within the heritage sector, including 8 years as a conservation officer. These insights give me a unique perspective, especially when writing planning applications, as I know exactly what the conservation officers are looking for!

Over my career as a heritage consultant, I’ve had a key role in influencing the outcomes of planning and appeals. Alongside my day job, I’ve also created, launched, and managed a Heritage Lottery Funded/ERDF grant scheme worth £1.625 million, and I’ve even composed a Listed Building Local Development Framework Policy Document for a council.

While the experiences I’ve gained over the last 30 years have been extensive, I’m always on the lookout for new guidance, best practices, and emerging techniques. I have been a professional member of the Institute of Historic Building Conservation (IHBC) for many years, and I seek out relevant and interesting education courses, both online and in person, to expand my knowledge.
My Values
I believe in speaking for buildings and helping owners to understand and appreciate their properties. In doing so, I help them find the best ways to live with their properties, not against them.

Heritage buildings are not museum pieces to be looked at and not touched. However, there are definite lines as to what is and isn’t appropriate when making repairs or making a historic building more liveable.
By advocating for both the building and the client, I ensure my proposals, advice, and reports are mindful of both the historic fabric of old buildings and the modern needs of those who occupy them.
